Nokia Symbian Series 60-based phones have a copy of the OS present in the built-in ROM. When you format the phone, the OS gets restored from the ROM to the phone memory overwriting the existing setup.

There are Two type to format Phone.
1 Soft Reset.
2 Hard Reset.

Soft Reset.:

In soft reset You type on phon *#7780# and type your mobile password. (Default Password is "12345").This is a normal reset. It will load the original settings from the phone's ROM. However, it will retain the user's own data. Like images, music, installed applications etc.

Hard Reset:

In Hard reset *#7370# and now type your Mobile Password.(Default Password is "12345"). This method completely reformat the C: drive (phone memory). All the user information will be deleted.
